About Amritsar.

Amritsar, located in the Indian state of Punjab, it is one of the holiest places of worship for Sikhism. It was founded by Sri Guru Ramdass ji, the fourth guru of the Sikhs in about 1574 A.D. The land bought by him for a small amount of 700 rupees and excavate a holy pool. Amritsar derives its name from Amrit Sarovar, which is the holy pool around the Golden Temple. The foundation of the Darbar Sahib was laid by Guru Arjan Sahib on January 3, 1588, and by 1601, it was fully completed.

The Golden Temple holds its significance for the fact that the first version of 'Guru Granth Sahib', which is regarded as the holiest book of Sikhism was installed here. The most eminent attractions of Amritsar includes The Golden Temple, Wagah Border, Jallianwala Bagh, Hall Bazaar, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, Partition Museum, Gobindgarh Fort, Durgiana Temple, Goindwal Baoli, Tarn Taran Sahib, Shree Ram Tirth Temple, Mata Lal Devi Temple, Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum, Pul Kanjari and Khalsa Collage.
