About Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Odisha, situated on the banks of river Mahanandi. The city is also refers to as the temple city of India due to its large number of religious temples. 

The city has been establish by Chedi dynasty in the 2nd century BC by the name of Sisupalgarh. It remained unknown to the world till 3rd century BC that the place rose to prominence and at the same time the famous Kalinga War took place between the Mauryan Empire and the state of Kalinga.

After the war, Kalinga Kingdom lost its glory for couple of year, they rise from the depth after the death of King Ashoka. It was King Kharavela of the Chedi dynasty who reinstated the Kalinga back to its former glory. After the end of Chedi Dynasty several dynasties ruled this kingdom. During 15th to 18th century ad Bhubaneswar City was under the control of Suryavamsi Gajapatis, Mughals and Matharas respectively.

The main tourist attraction of Bhubaneswar are The Lingaraj Temple, Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves, Rajarani Temple, Parashurameshvara Temple, Mukteswara Temple, Shanti Stupa, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Bindu Sarovar, Odisha State Museum, Brahmeswara Temple, Shri Ram Mandir, Baitala Deula, Ananta Vasudeva Temple, Kedar Gauri Temple, ISKCON Temple, Regional Museum Of Natural History, Museum Of Tribal Arts & Artifacts, Biju Patnaik Park, Indira Gandhi Park, Ekamra Kanan, Ananta Vasudeva Temple, Bhaskareswara Temple, Dhauligiri Hills, Chausath Yogini Temple and Mohini Temple.
