Chandigarh, the dream city of India's first Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru, was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. Picturesquely located at the foothills of Shivaliks, it is known as one of the best experiments in urban planning and modern architecture in the 20century in India. Chandigarh derives its name from the famous temple of "Chandi Mandir" located in the vicinity of the site selected for the city. About Amritsar.
Amritsar, located in the Indian state of Punjab, it is one of the holiest places of worship for Sikhism. It was founded by Sri Guru Ramdass ji, the fourth guru of the Sikhs in about 1574 A.D. The land bought by him for a small amount of 700 rupees and excavate a holy pool. Amritsar derives its name from Amrit Sarovar, which is the holy pool around the Golden Temple. The foundation of the Darbar Sahib was laid by Guru Arjan Sahib on January 3, 1588, and by 1601, it was fully completed.
The Golden Temple holds its significance for the fact that the first version of 'Guru Granth Sahib', which is regarded as the holiest book of Sikhism was installed here.
