About Srinagar.
Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It lies in the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, and Dal and Anchar lakes. Srinagar has a history that has carved out this place to be what it is in the present day. Its history dates back to 3rd century B.C in the ancient ages. The name Srinagar is derived from the conjoining of the two words in Sanskrit, “Sri†implying ‘Lakshmi’ and “Nagar†implying ‘city’. The city has been ruled by several rulers during the past and has been important part of Kashmir valley.
The most eminent attractions of Srinagar includes The Mughal Gardens, Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Chashmashahi garden, Hazratbal Mosque, Jamia Masjid Mosque, Ziarati Hazrati Youza Asouph, Shankaracharya Mandir, Pari Mahal, Nehru Garden and Parihaspora. Few more nearby places to visit are Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahalgaon.
