About Shimla.

Shimla “the queen of Hill Station” situated in the north-west Himalayas at a height of 7200ft, is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla is surrounded by pine, deodar and oak forests. 

Shimla is derived by a Sanskrit word "Shyamla a synonym of goddess Kali. Shimla was a small sleepy forest village until discovered by the then British officer Charles Kennedy in 1819 and build a rest house. In 1864 Shimla became the official summer capital of British India.

About Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, the dream city of India's first Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru, was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. Picturesquely located at the foothills of Shivaliks, it is known as one of the best experiments in urban planning and modern architecture in the 20century in India. Chandigarh derives its name from the famous temple of "Chandi Mandir" located in the vicinity of the site selected for the city. The deity 'Chandi', the goddess of power and a fort of 'garh' laying beyond the temple gave the city its name "Chandigarh-The City Beautiful".
