About Tiruchirappalli.

Tiruchirappalli or Trichy, is the fourth largest city in Tamil Nadu, Situated on the banks of the river Kaveri. It was a citadel of the Early Cholas from 300 B.C. which later fell to the Pallavas. But the Pallavas never really managed to retain control of this strategic city and lost it to the Pandyas several times. This tug of war finally ended when the Cholas reasserted themselves in the 10th century.

Trichy continued to be in their possession until the decline of the empire after which it became a Vijayanagara stronghold. Mahendravarman laid (6th century AD) the foundation of the Rockfort which is regarded as the cultural symbol of the city and is one of the oldest surviving monuments in Tamil Nadu.

Apart from the Fort Temple, there are several things to see in city like Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, St. Joseph's Church, St John's Church, Brahmapureeswarar Temple, Thiruvanaikoil Temple, Woraiyur, Vekkali Amman Temple, Erumbeeswarar Temple, Jambukeshwara Temple, Pachamalai Hills, Railway museum, Vayalur Murugan Temple and Kallanai Dam.
