About Jhansi.

The historic city of Jhansi is situated in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, nestled between the Betwa and Pahunj rivers. The land of Rani Lakshmibai is a symbol of bravery, courage and self-respect. It is said that in ancient times Jhansi was a part of Bundelkhand region of the Chandela kings and during that time it was called Balwant Nagar. 

The city regain its importance after 17th century when Maharaja Chhatrasal gifted the city and nearby area to Peshwa Baji Rao. In 1842 Raja Gangadhar Rao married Rani Lakshmi Bai, who valiantly fought against the British forces during the First War of Indian Independence in 1857. Later Britishers gave the Jhansi city to Jivaji Rao Scindia and it became a part of Gwalior state. 

The main tourist attraction of Jhansi are Rani Mahal, The Jhansi Fort, Jhansi Museum, Panchatantra Park, The Cenotaph of Raja Gangadhar Rao, Orchha Fort Complex, St. Jude’s Shrine, Barua Sagar, Karguvanji Jain temple, Mahalakshmi Temple, Lakshmi Tal, Rai Praveen Mahal, Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary, Rani Lakshmi Bai Park, Parichha Dam and river rafting in Betwa river.
