The beautiful city of Raipur is the capital city of Chhattisgarh state, situated on the banks of Mahanadi River in Central India. There are enough literary evidences which define the history of Raipur since the time of the Maurya Empire. After that it has been ruled by several rulers of the area. It is believed that the King Ramachandra from Kalchuri dynasty established the city of Raipur and subsequently made it the capital of his kingdom. The old site and ruins of the fort can be seen in the southern part of the city. Present day Raipur is very significant and prominent, especially for its steel markets. 

 It is home to one of the biggest and largest steel markets in India and also one of the biggest industrial centers. It has more than 200 steel mills and six steel plants. The main tourist attraction of Raipur are Mahant Ghasi Memorial Museum, Jatmai Temple, Energy Park, ISKCON Temple, Purkhauti Muktangan Garden, Swami Vivekanand Sarovar, Gandhi Udyan Park, Kevalya Dham Jain Temple, Nandan Van Zoo, Banjara Mata Temple, Champaran, Rajiv Lochan Mandir, Town Hall, Mahamaya Temple and Kankali Talab.
