About Rajkot.

Rajkot is situated in the Saurashtra region of the western Indian state of Gujarat on the banks of Aji and Nyari Rivers. Rajkot (literally, the City of Princes), is relatively a young kingdom, was founded in the year of 1610 by Vibhaji Jadeja and Raju Sandhi (a scion of the Jamnagar Royal Family). 

The city got its name in the memory of its co-founder Raju Sandhi. Mahatma Gandhi spent the early years of his life when his father was a Diwan to the king of Saurashtra. Today it is best known commercial and industrial centre. The manufacture of cotton, woolen textiles and traditional handicrafts is a major activity. 

The main tourist attraction of Rajkot are Kaba Gandhi No Delo, Rotary Dolls Museum, Watson Museum, Nyari Dam, Prem Mandir, Khambhalida Caves, Jubilee Garden, Lang Library, Aji Dam, Lal Pari Lake, Ramakrishna Ashram, Swaminarayan Temple, Shri Ranchhoddas Ashram, Ishwariya Temple, Pradhyuman Zoological Park, Ranjit Vilas Palace, Jagat Mandir, Ishwariya Park, Nyari Dam, Analgadh Hill and Rashtriya Shala.
