About Vijayawada.

Vijayawada earlier known as Bezawada, is located on the banks of the Krishna river in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.  It is surrounded by water bodies on its three sides and a mountain on the fourth side, giving the city a splendid scenic beauty.

The word Vijayawada means “land of victory” and is named after the goddess of the city Kanaka Durga, who is also known by the name of Vijaya. The Bay of Bengal lies on the east of Vijayawada and on the west is the Indrakeeladri Mountain. On the outskirts of the city, to the west, lies the Kondapalli Reserve Forest, which provides the city with lush green freshness.

The city of Vijayawada has seen the rise and fall of several dynasties from the Gajapatis to the Eastern Chalukyas and the powerful Krishna Deva Raya of the Vijayanagar Empire.

The main tourist attraction of Vijayawada are Bhavani Island, Kanaka Durga Temple, Besant Road, Undavalli Caves, Kondapalli Fort, Hazratbal Mosque, Mangalagiri Hill, Victoria Museum, Rajiv Gandhi Park, Kolleru Lake, Mogalarajapuram Caves, Subramanya Swamy Temple, Amaravathi, Hinkar Tirtha, Gunadala Matha Shrine, Gandhi Hill, VMC Disney Land, Prakasam Barrage, Amaravati Museum, Lenin Statue, Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple, Haailand, ISKCON Temple, Scrap Sculpture Park, Akkanna Madanna Cave and Rajahmundri.
