About Jalandhar.

Jalandhar, formerly known as Jullundhar is an ancient city in Punjab. Jalandhar is said to have derived its name from the vernacular term `Jalandhar means area inside the water, i.e. tract laying between the two rivers Satluj and Beas. 

In the 7th century CE it was the capital of a Rajput kingdom. The third largest city in the state, it is an important rail and road junction and a trade centre for agricultural products. 

Its industries include manufacturing, tanning, weaving, and carpentry in addition to a large sporting-goods industry. Jalandhar is surrounded by several suburbs and has a large cantonment to the south and an airfield 9 miles (14 km) to the east.

The main tourist attraction of Jalandhar are Devi Talab Mandir, Shiv Mandir, Sodal Temple, mausoleum of Imam Nasir,  The Jama Masjid, Gurdwara Chhevin Padshahi, St Mary's Cathedral, Tulsi Mandir, Desh-Bhagat Memorial Hall, and Wonderland Theme Park.
