About Dharamshala

Dharamsala earlier known as Mcleodganj, the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh is situated in the picturesque Kangra valley and set against the Dhauladhar mountain range. 

The Tibetan settlement of Dharamshala began in 1959, when the abode of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama “Tibetan spiritual leader” had to flee Tibet and Indian Prime Minister allowed him and his followers to settle in Dharamshala, since then the city is also known as Little Lhasa. 

Dharamshala and its surrounding area was ruled by the Katoch Dynasty of Kangra till Britishers get control in 1810. Dharamsala is one of the most popular hill station and an ideal retreat for nature lovers. 

The pristine environment with dense green cover consisting of Deodar and Pine trees provides a visual treat.
